I really messed up my feet, and I'm paying for it now. I discovered FitFlops about 3 years ago, and my feet think they've gone to heaven. I've gotten rid of over half my Imelda Marcos-type shoe collection because all I want to wear are these. So far, I have 3 pairs for summer and 2 pairs for winter. Life is good.That said, I decided to buy a pair for my husband, who has bad feet, bad knees and bad back and always buys the cheapest shoes he can find. There was a problem with the first order because it simply disappeared from tracking. USPS was (as usual) no help at all, and neither was our local Post Office, even though the tracking info indicated that they had been delivered to my home......right before the number was changed to one that the tracker wouldn't accept. Read more 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful:  Same GREAT sole, HORRIBLE strap, By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: FitFlops Men's Hyker Sandal (Apparel) I just took my new fit-flop Hykers on a short but strenuous 6 mile hike up and down Mission Peak in Fremont, CA on 9/18/10. My right toe was in pain from the strap rubbing against it and my left ankle ended up with a bleeding gash in it, not good. The soles are still the famous and comfortable fit-flop sole but the straps are cheap, hard, brittle, very cheap material. Basically they placed a third-rate strap on a first-rate shoe. To alleviate the problem you can wear socks but that kind of defeats the purpose of wearing the sandal. A little heavier duty strap with a little padding would have completely solved the problem. I would also recommend they go with a criss-cross strap over the instep of the foot as well, laterally more stable for hiking. I have two other pairs of the fitflops, the Men's Dass sandals and love them, wear them everyday but these Hykers need a serious upgrade. Many trails in the area are steep, rough, rocky and treacherous, and demand sturdy hiking boots with grippy soles and secure ankle support in order to tackle them. But other trails are level, relatively smooth or even graded, and offer perfect opportunities to ditch the mountain-man footwear and opt for something more lightweight and comfortable--like Fitflops Hyker hiking sandals.When the time came to replace my ancient, shredded Merrill trail sandals, I chose Hykers over the very-similar Tevas because I liked their slightly thicker sole.
